The Merseyside club Will Not Alter Forward-Thinking Philosophy Despite Poor Run of Form, Says Slot
Arne Slot has revealed that the club's hierarchy are aligned with his perspective regarding the recent downturn and he has no intention of discarding their forward-thinking philosophy in search of a solution. The head coach conceded that six defeats in seven games was below standard ahead of the weekend fixture with Villa.
Increasing Scrutiny During Challenging Phase
Slot accepted the scrutiny was intense before his rotated squad were eliminated from the Carabao Cup against Crystal Palace. However, he maintained that this pressure to arrest the slide is not coming from the team's proprietors or executive leadership following a significant spending of almost £450m.
"They say similar things," commented Slot, whose side will meet Los Blancos in the European competition and travel to the Citizens in the domestic competition.
Team Strength Remains Unquestioned
Liverpool's manager thinks his team "boast a remarkable roster if they are completely available and all ready for the schedule ahead". He said that the summer investment in talents including the attacking midfielder and the forward, who is expected to be sidelined again against the Birmingham club through fitness issues, had left the club "in an excellent position for the near future and the distant prospects".
Gelling Difficulties
When asked why his team were struggling to integrate, he responded: "That question isn't constructive. 'What are the reasons?' I offer insights and people say I'm offering alibis. I can list several explanations why we are struggling for victories or losing as much as we do but, as I consistently state, there are insufficient justifications to have a run of form as we had now."
- No matter if I could identify numerous reasons
- As Liverpool manager you must avoid losses
- Unfortunately six losses from seven matches
Defensive Numbers
Only Burnley (twenty-one) have allowed more significant openings from regular play this season than Liverpool (nineteen). The league leaders, Arsenal, have allowed just two. Yet Liverpool's coach rejects the champions have been too open and maintains there is no basis to compromise forward-thinking approach for a cautious system after ten fixtures without a shutout.
"From my perspective we don't giving up numerous openings so I find no basis to alter our approach entirely but we have to enhance in keeping clean sheets," he declared.
Particular Cases
"Against Manchester United, how many chances did we concede? Versus the German side when we were 3-1 up, we hardly conceded a effort at our net. In every match we have played so far we haven't conceded a many opportunities. Absolutely not. We do give away a bit more than the prior term but that stems from us being behind early so you play more openly. But overall I don't feel that our challenge is that we give up too many openings. Our challenge is we don't score the opportunities we generate."
