Seamer Atkinson Adds to England's Fitness Worries.

'Major setback' for the English camp after Atkinson leaves the field due to a hamstring issue.

Gus Atkinson increased England's injury problems when he left the ground during Saturday's play of the fourth Ashes Test in the Ashes series.

The right-arm seamer pulled up with his left hamstring after the final ball of the fourth over on Saturday.

The England team reported the 27-year-old reported "discomfort" and was to take time off the field for further assessment "during the day".

The final Test of the tour at the SCG starts this coming Sunday.

The visitors have already lost strike bowlers one seamer to a knee injury and Jofra Archer to a side strain on this Ashes tour.

A replacement bowler was called up to provide backup.

Atkinson struggled in the opening two Tests, managing only three wickets.

He was omitted from the previous Test, only to be brought back for the Melbourne Test in the playing XI.

Surrey's Atkinson performed better in the fourth Test, claiming a couple of wickets during the host's first knock, before adding 28 while batting being one of only three English batsmen to get into double digits.

Post a single over at the end of day one, he returned the next day and dismissed the nightwatchman taken by the wicketkeeper.

However, at the end of that over, he bowled a slower ball to the batsman and suddenly grabbed at his leg.

Gus Atkinson was recalled for the fourth Ashes Test following his omission the Adelaide game.
