Disaster Occurs as Accidental Blast at Police Station in Indian-administered Kashmir Claims Nine Deaths
A catastrophic blast at a police station in the Indian-controlled part of Kashmir has led to the loss of nine people and wounding to thirty-two others, according to official statements.
The event occurred when a cache of impounded blast substances accidentally blew up during management operations.

The blast happened on Friday night at the Nowgam law enforcement facility, where blast substances seized from Faridabad in the northern province of Haryana province were being held provisionally.
Area security director declared that the blast materials were pending forensic examination when a "deeply regrettable" accident during management resulted in their detonation at approximately 11:20 PM local.
Police Statements
Security forces asserted that this was an "inadvertent blast" and not a terror incident. "Alternative theories regarding the origin of this event is unwarranted," highlighted the security director during a journalist meeting.
The security post endured severe damage from the detonation, with nearby constructions also being impacted by the powerful blast.
Impact and Victims
Numerous cars were "consumed by fire and reduced to charred husks, with debris scattered across the location," according to authority statements.
"The force of the explosion was such that some human remains were retrieved from nearby houses, approximately between 100 and 200 meters from the law enforcement facility," mentioned an official source.
The bulk of the casualties were law enforcement personnel, along with forensic personnel, two investigative imaging experts, and a garment worker who was present with the personnel.

The territory's Lieutenant Governor stated commiserations and declared that an investigation had been ordered into the devastating event.
"I have directed a investigation to determine the cause of the accidental explosion. Extremely pained by the loss of precious lives due to exceptionally devastating unintentional explosion at Nowgam law enforcement facility in Srinagar. My sympathies to the grieving relatives. I hope for speedy recovery of the harmed," expressed the leader on digital platforms.
