Chiefs Acknowledge Alleged Abuse Claims Connected to Wide Receiver Rashee Rice

The Kansas City Chiefs issued a statement on Wednesday evening stating they have knowledge of domestic violence allegations made public in social media posts by a former girlfriend of wide receiver Rashee Rice and had been in communication with the league office.

The team omitted the name of Rice specifically in their statement and stated they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

Claims Shared on Social Media

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who likewise did not name Rice by name, posted a series of photos on social media that appeared to show signs of physical abuse. She did say the person involved was the parent of her kids, and reports indicate she has two children with Rice, whom the team drafted in the 2023 draft.

Police Reports Currently Not on File

No official complaints were on file in the Kansas City suburb where the alleged abuse is said to have taken place.

Rice's Prior Legal Issues

Rice missed the first six games of this NFL campaign following an league-mandated ban for his involvement in instigating a crash on a Dallas highway that left several individuals hurt. Rice was sentenced 30 days in jail and five years’ probation after entering a guilty plea to serious offenses.

Statistically, Rice finished the year with 53 catches for 571 yards and five TDs as the Kansas City went 6-11 and missed the playoffs for the first occasion in a ten-year span.
